Around Lake Michigan - Page 3

Friday morning we set off to tour Door County, stopping for a visit at an apple and cherry orchard. Then it was on to Fish Creek, Wisconsin where we spent some time touring the town . Our lunch was a fish boil at the Lakeside Tundra House in Jacksonport, Wisconsin.

At Whitefish Dunes State Park we walked out to see the dunes. The weather was not too pleasant for the last few days but it didn't prevent us from doing anything. Late in the afternoon we stopped at Jim and Carol Anhalt's dairy farmof 100 Head of Holsteins in Manitowoc, Wisconsin and observed the milking and pasteurizing* operation. We also enjoyed a treat of ice cream. We spent the night at the Inn on Maritime Bay in the center of the Midwest's ship-building industry.

On our final day of the tour we experienced some of the best parts of the program. One of my favorites was the visit to Pale Moon Llama Farm where Nancy Schultz introduced us to her llama family. It was so pleasant and it was difficult to leave.

Our next treat was a driving tour of Milwaukee, past lovely homes and the lakefront. We passed the new and unusual Art Museum. We then travelled on to Greendale, Wisconsin and a wonderful lunch at the Taste of Home Restaurant and an hour of shopping the village shops. Then it was on to the airport and our journey home.

I'm finally finishing this page after almost a year so some of the memories have faded but I do know we enjoyed the tour, the people who were with us and have already taken another tour with World Wide Country Tours to Scandinavia, my next travel page project.
