Scandinavian Trip - Page 2

Norway

After we left Upsala we headed toward Lillehamer where we saw the ski jump and toured the folk museum there. It was here that we saw our first stave church, a particular construction used in Norway. We were to see several ski areas on this trip. I am unclear as to the sequence of these events and will check the itinerary later but want to get these pictures on my site as soon as possible. The countryside in Norway was so beautiful and one particular sight was unforgetable and that was the drive up the mountain to the Stalheim Hotel. The gardens were beautiful as well and we had a two day stay there. The next group of pictures are from a day trip we took from Stalheim to Bergen, again in the rain. When we got to Bergen the rain was just pouring down so there wasn't too much opportunity to walk around but the ride to and from was very beautiful. We saw our second stave church on this trip. We took a day trip on a boat trip through a fjord. It was a rainy day and pretty cold but we saw as much as we could. Fortunately, there was an indoor area so we were able to go in and get warm. At one point we toured Frogner Park where beautiful sculptures were displayed. The gardens there were beautiful as well. We also toured aNorwegian farm in Torpor and saw another stave church right next to the farmer's house. Our bus continued through the Fossli mountain area and past a glacier. Our search for reindeer was unsuccessful although we were all looking for them. Our final stop in Norway was Oslo where we enjoyed lunch in a park, a beautiful photo exhibit and boarded a ship for the cruise to Denmark.
