Chicago Flower Show

What you'll need:

  1. PSP (I use version X but this can be done in any version)
  2. A photograph of any subject. I'm using a photo I took at the Chicago Flower Show and one from the Stained Glass Window Exhibit in 2006.
  3. Simple filters available
  4. Font of your choice. I used Comic Sans.
  5. All settings will remain the same unless stated otherwise.


Okay, let's begin:

Step 1

Open a photo or graphic of your choice.
On the layer pallete right click and Promote Background Layer.

Step 2

On your materials pallete select a light foreground color and darker background color compatible with your photograph.
Image/Resize/500 pixels on longest side
Adjust/Sharpness/Sharpen if necessary
Shift/D twice for two copies.
Close the original and minimize the other copy for later use. Use the final copy as your working image.

Step 3

Selections/Select All
Image/Add Border/5 pixels using foreground color
Selections/Invert
Effects/3D/Inner Bevel

Bevel 8, 10, 4, 4, 0, 0, white, 315, 50, 30
Bevel 8, 10, 4, 4, 0, 0, white, 315, 50, 30

Step 4

Select All
Image/Add Border/25 in background color
Selections/Invert
Effects/Simple/Diamonds
Effects/InnerBevel same settings as before


Step 5

Selections/Select All
Image/Add Border/35 foreground color
Selections/Invert
On material pallette select original picture as a pattern

Pattern Settings
Floodfill Selection
Effects/3D/Inner Bevel Use the same settings but change to Bevel 2


Step 6

Select All
Image/Add Borders/5 pixels in foreground color
Effects/3D/Inner Bevel Same settings but change back to Bevel 8.
Selections/Select None


Step 7

New Raster Layer
Select the Text Tool

Add your name or any other text you wish.
Text Settings
Objects/Align/Horiz. Center in Canvas
Convert to Raster Layer
Add a drop shadow of your choice if you wish.


Step 8

Add any copyright information and your watermark on separate layers and Save/Export as a jpg.
