The fire at Fairfield was a shock to everyone and has left the community with a big hole both emotionally and physically. This is the place where the community met for Kiwanis, Travel and Women’s Clubs, bridge groups, not to mention all the golf activities and use of the restaurant.

How upset and incensed all of us were to see the lead article on Friday begin, “Fire investigators are not ruling out arson. . . .” Any large unexplained fire is investigated but it seems as though any negative comment about our community, no matter where it comes from, warrants full coverage by the Times Georgian. I can understand reporting the news but how about starting out with the facts and putting any suppositions later. Even the unfortunate home fire that occurred on Tuesday was cited as having a possible connection. Thank God, a positive quote from the fire department appeared at the end of that article today.

This community and its various organizations are very generous both with their fund raising and their volunteer time in the city of Carrollton. We try to be good neighbors so can’t you give us a break?
