Robin's Egg Blue
The giant oak was golden green with its new leaves just beginning to burst out. Robin, perched on the oak swing hanging from the massive limb next to the house, was unaware of the beauty of the tree and the sun filtering through the branches. She was thinking of him and what he said last night just before he left her.
"When I'm with you I feel so wonderful and, when we're apart all I have to do is think of you and I feel the same." His eyes changed from warm to sparkling with his attempt to joke about his deep feelings.
She had begun to think it was impossible for this to happen. No one would ever love her that she could love back. There had been plenty of men following her around but she just couldn't seem to love them. Then there had been the times she had fallen really hard and, much too soon, there were no calls, no explanations...nothing.
But this was different. When they first met she felt he would be the one and then last night he said he felt the same...it was wonderful!
Suddenly, she felt someone behind her...not just someone...him. His arms gently but firmly wrapped around her and she felt like she was home. "Look," he said, "there on the ground, a robin's egg! Robin's egg blue, just like your eyes."
